Privacy Policy

The Short Version
ListingGems is a desktop application that runs entirely on your computer. Your images are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any external server. We do not collect, process, or have access to your photos.
What We Collect
ListingGems collects the minimum information necessary to operate:
- License activation: When you activate your license key, your key and a device identifier are sent to our payment provider (Creem) to verify the purchase and register the activation. No personal photos or files are transmitted.
- Update checks: ListingGems periodically checks for software updates. This request contains your app version and operating system. No personal data is included.
That's it. The desktop app itself contains no analytics, no usage tracking, and no telemetry. (Our marketing website uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics, and — with your consent — the Meta Pixel for advertising; see "Website Analytics" and "Advertising & Cookies" below.)
What the App Does NOT Collect
- Your photos, images, or any files you process
- In-app usage patterns, feature usage, or session data
- Device fingerprints, or IP addresses stored by us
- Personal information beyond what is required for license activation
Image Processing
All image processing (background removal, lighting correction, upscaling, cropping) happens locally on your hardware using AI models that run on your GPU or CPU. No image data leaves your machine at any point during processing.
AI Models
On first launch, ListingGems downloads AI model files from HuggingFace (a public model repository). After download, these models run entirely offline. No data is sent to HuggingFace or any other service during image processing.
Payment Processing
Payments are handled by Creem, our payment provider. When you purchase ListingGems, Creem processes your payment information directly. We do not store credit card numbers, billing addresses, or other payment details. Please refer to Creem's privacy policy for details on how they handle payment data.
Abandoned Checkout Emails
If you begin checkout and enter your email address but do not complete your purchase, our payment provider (Creem) may send you a short series of reminder emails about your incomplete order. These emails use only the email address you entered during checkout and are sent on our behalf to help you complete a purchase you started.
We rely on our legitimate interest in recovering an incomplete transaction as the legal basis for these reminders. Every reminder email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time — doing so stops the reminders without affecting your ability to purchase. We do not use your checkout email for unrelated marketing.
Website Analytics
Our marketing website (listinggems.com) uses Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to understand aggregate traffic such as page views and referring sites. Umami is cookieless: it does not set cookies, does not track you across other websites, does not store your IP address, and does not build a profile of you. This analytics applies only to the website — the desktop application contains no analytics or telemetry.
Advertising & Cookies (Meta Pixel)
To measure our advertising on Facebook and Instagram, our marketing website uses the Meta Pixel. When active, the Pixel sets cookies (_fbp, and _fbc if you arrive from an ad) and sends event data — such as a page view or a trial download — to Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. For this data, we and Meta act as joint controllers as described in Meta’s Controller Addendum. The data is used to measure ad performance and build advertising audiences. See Meta’s Privacy Policy for how Meta processes it.
The Meta Pixel does not load until you allow it. For visitors in the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we show a consent banner and the Pixel only runs after you click “Accept.” For visitors outside these regions, the Pixel loads automatically. You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer, which re-opens this choice — choosing “Reject” turns the Pixel off and deletes its cookies. The Pixel runs only on the marketing website — never in the desktop app, and never on your photos.
In addition to the browser Pixel, when you start a trial or complete a purchase from outside the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we send a one-time conversion event to Meta from our own server (Meta’s Conversions API) to measure which ads lead to trials and sales. This event includes a cryptographically hashed form of your email address — a one-way fingerprint we cannot reverse, which Meta uses as a matching key to attribute the conversion. It does not include your name, your activity in the app, or your photos. We rely on our legitimate interest in measuring our own advertising. For visitors in the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we do not send these server-side events at all. You can object to this measurement at any time by emailing support@listinggems.com.
Third-Party Services
ListingGems interacts with the following third-party services:
- Creem — License activation, payment processing, and abandoned-checkout reminder emails
- HuggingFace — One-time AI model download
- NVIDIA — One-time download of GPU acceleration libraries (CUDA/cuDNN) for users with NVIDIA GPUs
- ListingGems update server — Software update checks
- Umami — Cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics on the marketing website only
- Meta Platforms — The Meta Pixel on the marketing website, used (with your consent) to measure Facebook/Instagram ads. Sets cookies; not present in the desktop app.
No other third-party services receive data from ListingGems.
Data Retention
Your license key and device activation ID are stored locally on your computer in the application's settings file. You can deactivate your device at any time from the app's Settings, which removes the activation from Creem's records.
Children's Privacy
ListingGems is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of ListingGems after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
